MEDIA RELEASEWartook Valley takes centre stage for classic inspired festival
The festival Grampians ~ Classics in Wartook Valley will celebrate its second year at the start of the spring season and all that makes up a classic retreat in Wartook Valley from Friday, September 10 to Sunday, 12 September, 2010.
“With strong support from the local community and visitors from outside the region, the festival is thrilled to run again for a second year. In 2010, the festival committee has focused on those aspects from our inaugural year that were well received and added new elements to broaden the festivals scope of events on offer” said Melissa Russell, Classics in Wartook Valley, Festival Director.
The themes and concepts are inspired by the local community to celebrate those things simple and harmonious, of style in art, culture and music, which follow traditional principles yet explore the classic outcomes within everyday life.
Visitors are encouraged to make a weekend out of the festival, with a diverse range of events, activities and tours available throughout the weekend. Come along and enjoy a weekend of classic films and music, vintage cars, local food, wine and produce, working artists and exhibitions, local tours and a market extravaganza, all amongst the native bushland and backdrop of Victoria’s spectacular Grampians National Park.
The heart of the festival is centrally located at The Wander Inn Restaurant and Wartook Artist Studio, Wartook. The area offers ample parking facilities; a fantastic open outdoor space, undercover facilities, toilets, restaurant, café and liquor license, gift shop and tourism visitor facilities. In addition, Laharum Hall will be utilised as another location for events, as well as business Laharum Grove and the picturesque Wartook Views property.
The Grampians ~ Classics in Wartook Valley is inspired by the opportunity to celebrate all that is great about this picturesque and vibrant community, its businesses, diverse landscapes, activities and, most of all, its people.
“Our core aims of the festival are to raise the profile of the area; raise awareness of the businesses, products and services available within the area; and to develop an ongoing sustainable event for future tourism growth to the municipality, in particular Wartook Valley,” said Ms Russell.
Festival highlights will include the return of classical ensemble Accord, featuring ABC radio and television presenter, Ms Emma Ayres; extraordinary new talent in 9 year old harpist Miss Emily Rose Matskows; feature artist Ms Jennifer Sutterby; and tours and breakfast to be held beneath the dramatic escarpment of Mount Difficult Range in the Grampians National Park to be held at Laharum Grove.
“More details of the weekend’s events and highlights will follow over the next few weeks. There is a great opportunity for local businesses to benefit from participating and supporting the festival in Wartook Valley in a sponsorship role, and donating their valuable time and resources to commit to the success of such a festival.”
